Scotland vs Greece Prediction

The attention turns to the international break, and for Steve Clarke's side, they have an excellent opportunity to stake a claim for a spot in next year's FIFA World Cup when they take on a Greece team that will likely contest for a top two spot along with the Scots and Denmark.

Steve Clarke has opted for a more experienced setup coming into this international break, which sees the home side also take on Belarus away from home. Scotland's squad features a mix of Premier League-based players, with notable names such as Ryan Christie and Andrew Robertson leading the way. Scott McTominay will undoubtedly be tasked with providing the attacking threat for Scotland, as last season's Serie A MVP has already provided an assist in qualifying to fellow Serie A compatriot, Che Adams.

Scotland's recent home form isn't the strongest, admittedly, with only one win in their last four matches. However, the Tartan Army has shown firm resolve in their previous three games, remaining unbeaten, including a significant 0-0 draw against a Denmark side who beat Greece 3-0 away from home last time out. The hosts typically deploy a five-back formation, which has provided them with defensive solidity, having secured three clean sheets in succession heading into this game.

As for Greece, whilst the 5-1 win against Belarus was convincing, they were brought back down to Earth following the 3-0 humbling at the Stadio Georgios Karaiskáki. Greece barely mustered any scoring opportunities, with no significant chances created in the game, having taken only four shots compared to Denmark's 15.

Both of these sides have taken a win against one another in recent times, with Greece recording a 3-1 aggregate victory in the Nations League; interestingly, both victories came away from home.

However, Steve Clarke's side has shown a slight improvement with their defensive performances, and should edge out their opponents here. Greece have scored at least twice in three of their last five international games, so despite Greece potentially breaking the firm Scottish wall, the Tartan Army should have enough match-winning quality to record a 2-1 victory at Hampden Park.
