The Premier League may be the most in demand and richest in world football, but there's still an awful lot of money around Europe with other clubs. La Liga is perhaps the top flights biggest challenger with their top clubs throwing some serious funds about in the transfer market over the last few years. Real Madrid and Barcelona dominate the transfer records for the most money spent on players but the rise of Atletico Madrid under Diego Simeone over the last few years has seen their wealth and spending power increase - with them attracting some magnificent players.
Atletico Madrid's success saw them manage to overthrow the big two back in the 2013/14 season to win La Liga against all odds and they've since made the final of the Champions League Final, becoming a major player in Spain. Well this weekend they take on Barcelona at their new Wanda Metropolitano home and it looks like a mouthwatering match on paper, with just a point separating the two clubs at the top of the La Liga table - so we're all set for a classic. Lionel Messi is back fit and in training too for Barcelona so it should be some spectacle in the Spanish capital.
