Some see it as a competitive fixture and some see it as a glamorous friendly, but the Community Shield is an important game on the English football calendar. It pits the winner of the Premier League and FA Cup against each other for the first piece of silverware of the campaign and it gives one club the chance to strike an early psychological blow before the 38 game season gets underway. This years clash sees Chelsea take on Manchester City in what looks like an excellent game on paper for many reasons.
Maurizio Sarri makes his competitive debut as Blues boss after replacing Antonio Conte in the summer and the early signs have been promising, with the West Londoners producing some promising performances during pre-season. Tests don't come much bigger than Pep Guardiola's Manchester City though, with this a real baptism of fire for the Italian. Pep's City dominated the domestic scene in England last term and despite missing a few first teamers through injury, they've been made favourites to scoop another trophy on Sunday.
