That time of the year that we dread, but also love is fast approaching, The World Cup. For four weeks football takes over with the planets best players thrashing it out for the honour of being named the best. In June in all gets under way in Russia with 32 nations looking to make history in Eastern Europe and it looks like one of the most wide open tournaments in recent memory. The defending champions Germany are currently the bookies favourites (9/2) to retain their crown but they’re likely to be challenged by the likes of Brazil, France, Spain and Argentina which is a mouthwatering prospect for fans worldwide. Gareth Southgate’s men have been handed a decent draw in the group stage but it’s pretty fair to say that confidence of them going deep isn’t high, with memories of their humiliating early exit from Euro 2016 to Iceland still fresh in the minds of everyone associated with the national team.
