English football has some of the longest and most prestigious tournaments in the game. The Premier League is widely renowned as the most competitive, exciting and entertaining division in the world with millions watching around the globe. Our top clubs are always involved in title races that go down to the wire with the ultimate prize being absolutely massive. That competition has only been around since 1992 with the Football League spanning across all of the top four divisions previously. Now we see just three leagues governed by the Football League, the Championship, League One & League Two with some of the countries biggest clubs ultimately dropping down the ladder.
The face of the game at the top level has changed, with several first division founding members & Premier League founders way down in the fourth tier – which would’ve come as a major shock to some of the games older supporters. But that in turn has led to some new faces joining the elite in the top flight, with the likes of Bournemouth and Huddersfield stunning everyone to make it up there.
The English game is constantly changing with new history being written every season, but some of the younger generation will be surprised by some of the clubs that used to dominate the game regularly.
