The EFL Cup (or League Cup as its originally known) is the the first piece of silverware on offer in the English domestic season and its a competition that tends to split opinion amongst fans and managers alike. Every supporter wants to see their team lift trophies but the EFL Cup isn't regarded as the biggest tournament available, so managers do tend to field weakened or rotated sides in the early rounds of it. But once it reaches the latter stages the focus changes and everyone wants to win it and this years competition has been an interesting one to say the least.
We're down to the final 4 at the moment and Manchester City are the overwhelming favourites to lift the trophy at Wembley in a few weeks time, in what would be the second time in two seasons. They've enjoyed another good run in the EFL Cup but the story of the tournament undoubtedly comes in the form of Burton Albion. The League One outfit have stunned the competition by knocking out sides such as Burnley, Middlesbrough, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa on their way to the semi-finals and they now have the reigning champions standing in their way of a first ever final appearance.
