New Year Premier League Goalscorers

Can you name the first Premier League scorer of the New Year? (2001-19)

2019 has begun and if it's anything like the Premier League was in 2018, we're in for an absolute treat. Last year produced some truly memorable & fantastic moments which consolidated the PL's place as the best division in world football. 2019 begins with Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham tussling for the trophy & we finally have a proper title race on our hands - unlike last season when Pep Guardiola's men ran away with the league.

The Premier League in 2019 began on Tuesday with 3 games (Leicester v Everton, Arsenal v Fulham & Cardiff v Tottenham) and it was a typically entertaining day - with 9 goals across the day. The first goal of the new calendar year came at Goodison Park courtesy of Jamie Vardy - netting the winner against the Toffees in a scrappy 1-0 win for Leicester.

In scoring Vardy will put his name in history as the first scorer of the new year and he joins a list of players who all have the honour of getting the new calendar year underway. We've been taking a look at some of the scorers and we've put together a quiz that'll really test your knowledge on it - we want to see if you can name every opening scorer in the Premier League dating back to 2001, meaning there's 19 answers in total.

We've given you a total of 8 minutes to correctly name as many of these players as possible and it's not easy - so anything over 14/19 is a very decent score! Play below and tweet your attempts into us @FootyAccums to see how you compare with the rest of our followers.
