The 18/19 Premier League season is finally upon us and it looks like it's going to be a cracker. There's been some huge sums of money thrown around by clubs in all areas of the division, meaning that the competitive element to it is only going to increase. Over a billion pounds were shelled out by sides in the top flight in an attempt to improve on their 17/18 showings and it's going to be interesting to see if they can hit the ground running in English football.
The biggest deal to be completed over the summer was a surprising one, with Chelsea smashing the world record fee for a goalkeeper to secure the services of Athletic Bilbao's Kepa Arrizabalaga. He replaced the departed Thibaut Courtois who headed to Real Madrid for around £35m - Kepa cost a whopping £71m! That could set a new precedent worldwide when it comes to fees for goalkeepers but one thing for sure is that the quality of the men between the sticks is higher than ever in the top flight.
