As the season draws towards its conclusion, the final promotion spots for all 3 football league divisions are yet to be confirmed. Enter: the play-offs. Always full of drama, tense football and truly memorable moments the play-offs are by far the best time for a neutral. Watching two teams slug it out for the right to play a division above, with heartache, joy and ecstasy along the way without your club being affected. However, if you’re lucky enough to make the play-offs, then chances are you’ll be a nervous wreck over the next two weeks.
Whether it’s ‘the most expensive game in football’ at the top end of the championship, or whether it’s for the right to leave behind League Two: the play-offs always bring the best out of certain teams. In the Championship its Fulham battling it out with Aston Villa, Derby & Middlesbrough, having narrowly missed out on automatic promotion courtesy of Neil Warnock’s Cardiff side. In League One it’s the defensively astute Shrewsbury who are fending off Charlton, Rotherham and Scunthorpe. Whilst down at the Football League’s basement division, Lincoln are aiming for a second successive promotion, but will have to better Notts County, Exeter and Coventry to do so.
