Finally we're here, Friday afternoon, the end is near. What a terrible week of football it's been; a slog, you could say. No Champions League or Europa League, no League Cup, not even as much as an FA Cup replay between two sides you couldn't care less about, diddly squat.
The international break rears its head once more this weekend, and while the 'glass half empty' types out there are all dragging their heels and moaning continuously about a lack of top-flight football, we're viewing it as a chance to enjoy what some of the lower leagues have to offer.
In League One, Luton Town have bridged the gap between second-place Barnsley, with five points now separating the two as we approach the weekend.
League Two sees a similar scenario, as Lincoln City sit six points ahead of Bury heading into their clash against Crawley on Saturday. Bury will be looking to close the gap with a convincing win away at Grimsby, but with the Mariners losing just one of their previous five home games, the challenge they face is a fairly difficult one.
The National League is hotting up at the moment, with just nine games of the campaign remaining, the battle for promotion to League Two is tighter than ever. Just four points separate leaders Leyton Orient from 4th-place Salford City, but a win for the Ammies tomorrow against Barnet will see that gap closed to one, as Orient aren't in action until next week due to their involvement in the FA Trophy.
