There's been some fantastic goalscorers who've come to ply their trade in the Premier League over the years, but not many have had the impact of Wayne Rooney. The 32 year-old sits proudly in the all-time standings for the most goals scored behind the great Alan Shearer and he's enjoyed a club career steeped in success, following spells with boyhood club Everton and Manchester United. At Old Trafford he won pretty much every available major club honour to write himself in the clubs history, along with becoming their all-time top scorer which is an incredible achievement. Not only that, he enjoyed success at a personal level with the national team after netting 53 times in 119 caps to become England's greatest ever goalscorer.
He's now in the twilight of his career, playing over in the United States with MLS side DC United, but this doesn't mean that he's slowing down by any stretch of the imagination. He's made an enormous impact in North America since making the move across at the Atlantic, contributing 16 goals (10G 6A) in 18 appearances which has given his new side the chance of making the end of season play-offs.
Today marks a special day for Rooney and it's one that he'll remember fondly. 16 years ago on 19th October 2002 he stunned the country to score an absolutely stunning winner for Everton in their 2-1 victory over Arsenal. His magnificent strike ended the Gunners' 30 match unbeaten run and in turn made him a superstar. It's one of the most famous goals in Premier League history and it 's something that he'll look back at with pride. Since netting that goal he's scored another 207 PL goals against 34 other clubs, but how many of them can you remember from over the years?
