Over the years there have been few constants at the World Cup. England have failed to qualify in the past and so have some other major countries currently in world football. Chile are the big team to miss out this year. The South American qualification is the hardest way of qualifying for the World Cup. Some of the best players and footballing countries coming from South America and a big nation will always miss out.
For the European countries qualification is relatively easy with a lot of minnows competing in the groups. However, Italy have still failed to miss out on qualification the year. Miss management and being drawn in a group with Spain has meant they'll miss the 2018 World Cup.
