This weekend could see a big shake-up in the bottom half of the Championship table with 18th down to 23rd only separated by eight points. Both need a win to look up the table and towards the top half rather than embroil themselves in the scrappy survival battle.

Huddersfield Town currently sit 21st in the Championship after 26 games. The Terriers have five wins, ten draws and 11 losses, leaving them on 25 points, just three points above the relegation zone.

The Terriers have one of the worst attacks in the Championship this season, having only scored 26 goals, which is the equivalent to a goal a game this season. Defensively, they’re not much better, having conceded 44 goals, conceding an average of one goal a game and only keeping four clean sheets, the second-worst record in the league.

Plymouth Argyle sit just above Huddersfield in 18th. In 26 games, Plymouth have seven wins, eight draws and 11 losses which leaves them on 29 points, seven points above the relegation zone.

In the Championship, Plymouth have an even worse defensive record. Despite having six clean sheets, they have conceded 45 goals already. In the game against Norwich City, Huddersfield could only manage five shots, with one on target in comparison to Norwich, who had 21 shots with eight on target. Sam McCallum and Borja Sainz both scored in the second half to give Norwich the 2 - 0 win.

However, Huddersfield bounced back against Blackburn Rovers. Despite having just 32% of the possession, Jaheim Headley, Sorba Thomas and Burgzorg all scored in the 3 - 0 win for Huddersfield.

The next time out for Huddersfield saw them host Middlesbrough. Josh Coburn opened the scoring ten minutes into the second half, but Michal Helik equalised just five minutes later. However, Jonny Howson netted a goal in the 84th minute to give Middlesbrough the 2 - 1 win.

Tom Cannon’s first goal of the day gave Leicester the 1 - 0 lead at halftime and Ricardo Pereira’s goal just two minutes into the second half doubled The Foxes’ lead. Cannon completed his brace just minutes before Helik got on the scoresheet for Huddersfield, but a goal from Stephy Mavididi wrapped up the 4 - 1 win for Leicester.

The last time out for Huddersfield was against Manchester City in the Third Round of the FA Cup. A brace from Phil Foden and goals from Julian Alvarez and Jeremy Doku, along with an own goal from Ben Jackson gave City the 5 - 0 win.

Plymouth Argyle

In their last five games in all competitions, Plymouth Argyle have one win, three draws and one loss.

Jay Stansfield and Jordan James gave Birmingham the early 2 - 0 lead, but Joe Edwards got Plymouth on the scoresheet just before the halftime whistle. Krystian Bielik was sent off for The Blues three minutes into the second half, leaving Plymouth with the advantage, however, it was Birmingham who struck first. Juninho Bacuna gave Birmingham the 3 - 1 lead, but goals from Ben Waine and Whittaker grabbed the 3 - 3 draw for Plymouth.

Next time out was another draw for Plymouth, this time against Cardiff City. Whittaker opened the scoring for Plymouth but an own goal from Matt Butcher drew Cardiff level before halftime. Just two minutes into the second half, Karlan Grant gave Cardiff the lead but Whittaker completed his brace to secure the 2 - 2 draw for Plymouth.

The visit to St Mary’s saw Plymouth leave it late. Carlos Alcaraz and Che Adams scored early in the second half to give Southampton the 2 - 0 lead, a big enough lead to mean that Hardie’s 91st-minute goal was null and void, as The Saints grabbed a 2 - 1 win.

Another 3 - 3 draw for Plymouth came against Watford on New Year’s Day. Five of the six goals came in the first half, Edo Kayembe and Ismael Kone were on the scoresheet for Watford and Finn Isaac Azaz, Whittaker and Hardie found the back of the net for Plymouth for the 3 - 2 lead. Ryan Andrew’s goal early in the second half drew Watford level but neither side could find another goal.

The most recent outing for Plymouth was against Sutton United in the Third Round of the FA Cup. Lee Angol did manage to score for Sutton, but goals from Luke Cundle, Hardie and Whittaker gave Plymouth the 3 - 1 win.

This tie is likely to be a tight affair with a low scoreline, however, it is likely that the scoreline will swing in Plymouth’s favour. Despite their poor defensive showings, Plymouth’s ability in front of goal may push them over the line.
