Club Brugge vs Fiorentina: Preview, Prediction & Betting Tips

Club Brugge welcome Fiorentina to Jan Breydel Stadium this Wednesday for the second leg of the Europa Conference League Semi Finals. Fiorentina picked up a win in the first leg but with just a one goal advantage.

        Date: 08/05/2024

        Kick off time: 17:45

        Location: Jan Breydel Stadium

Following their win in the first leg, Fiorentina will be looking to book a back-to-back appearance in the Europa Conference League Final. However, Club Brugge could still overturn the one goal margin this week.

Club Brugge currently sit top of the Belgian Pro League Championship round. In 37 games, Club Brugge have 20 wins, ten draws and seven losses, leaving them on 45 points, two points above Anderlecht.

This is the first time Club Brugge have competed in the Europa Conference League. However, they have competed in other levels of European competition. In the Europa League, Club Brugge made it to the Quarter Finals in 2015 before losing to Dnipro. In the Champions League the furthest Club Brugge have gotten is the Round of 16 in 2023, where they lost 7 - 1 on aggregate to Benfica.

Fiorentina currently sit eighth in the Serie A after 34 games. La Viola have 14 wins, eight draws and 12 losses which leaves them on 50 points, ten points from Europa League football next season.

La Viola made it all the way to the Final of the Europa Conference League in its first year last season but slumped to a 2 - 1 loss in the Final against West Ham. Fiorentina have also made the Semi Finals of the Europa League, losing 5 - 0 on aggregate to Sevilla and also made the Round of 16 in the Champions League in 2010, losing 4 - 3 on aggregate against Bayern Munich.

Club Brugge and Fiorentina have met just once in their histories, that being the meeting in the first leg of this Semi Final. The 3 - 2 win for Fiorentina suggests that this fixture can promise a lot of goals along with drama as Raphael Onyedika was sent off for Club Brugge.

The first leg of the Europa Conference League Semi Finals saw Fiorentina host Club Brugge. Sottil opened the scoring early just a penalty from Hans Vanaken levelled the game before the 20 minute mark. Adrea Belotti regained the lead for Fiorentina before halftime and even after the red card to Brugge’s Onyedika, Thiago equalised for Brugge. However, in extra time M’Bala Nzola grabbed a goal to give Fiorentina the 3 - 2 win.

        Footy Accumulators Prediction

The contest in the first leg suggests that the second leg may be even closer, with a draw the most likely outcome and Fiorentina progressing regardless. Club Brugge 1 - 1 Fiorentina
