            Brighton vs Liverpool Prediction

We are leaning towards a Liverpool win in one of the more standout Carabao Cup fixtures, although Brighton and Hove Albion will most certainly provide a stern test for Arne Slot’s side.

Liverpool have been excellent this season, having won 11 of their first 12 games under Arne Slot. The Reds have scored first in their last five across all competitions and have won the first half in each of their previous five also. Brighton and Hove Albion will no doubt provide tough opposition for Arne Slot's side, as the Seagulls are unbeaten in their last three.

In this fixture, neither side has kept a clean sheet in the previous three meetings, with Over 2.5 goals scored in each of the previous five meetings. Both teams have scored in four of the last five meetings between the two sides.

For these reasons, we predict that Liverpool will edge out this tight encounter against the Seagulls. There could be a goal in this game either way, as despite the pressure Brighton may be able to cause, Slot’s side should have enough attacking intent to overcome the Seagulls.

Brighton vs Liverpool Preview & Prediction

Liverpool’s defence of the EFL Cup (Carabao Cup) takes them to the American Express Stadium to face a Brighton and Hove Albion side who are impressing neutrals alike under the stewardship of Fabian Hürzeler.

            Date: 30/10/2024

            Location: American Express Stadium

            Kick-Off: 7.30 pm

Brighton and Hove Albion and Liverpool have shared some terrific encounters between the two sides over the last couple of years. The two sides met in a cup competition back in 2023, where the game was a fiercely contested affair with six yellow cards between the two teams - five from Liverpool and one from Brighton. KaoruMitoma scored a 92nd-minute winner to secure passage into the FA Cup Fifth Round for the Seagulls.

This season, it appears Brighton and Hove Albion have secured another astute managerial appointment in Fabian Hürzeler. The German has guided the Seagulls to fifth position in the Premier League, with every chance of maintaining a European place for the second time in three years. Brighton have already beaten Premier League opposition in Wolverhampton Wanderers this season in the third round, with the Seagulls comfortably dispatching League One Crawley Town in the second round.

Speaking of managerial appointments, Liverpool have been excellent in their recruitment of Feyenoord manager Arne Slot to replace the outgoing Jurgen Klopp. Slot has been tremendous in his role as he has guided his Liverpool side towards the summit of the Premier. Albeit, at the time of writing, Manchester City are top of the Premier League having played a game more than Liverpool. The Reds began their EFL Cup (Carabao Cup) defence with an emphatic 5-1 victory over Julen Lopetegui’s West Ham United team.

The previous meeting between these two teams resulted in a 2-1 victory for the Reds at Anfield thanks to Luis Diaz's and Mohamed Salah's goals.

            Where to watch

The game will be available on Sky Sports + as part of a more comprehensive broadcast covering all EFL-based competitions.

            Form Guide

Brighton and Hove Albion have the superior record in this fixture over the last five meetings, having won twice, drawn twice and lost only once in the previous five meetings with Arne Slot’s side. The most recent meeting between the two sides in this competition was in 2011 when the Reds were 2-1 winners in the third round of the competition in which they won that season. Goals from Craig Bellamy and Dirk Kuyt secured the win for the Reds.

The Seagulls have been impressive at home this season at the American Express Stadium, including victories over Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United. Brighton have played five league games this season at home in the Premier League, having won twice and drawn three in the league. The Seagulls are also unbeaten across their domestic fixtures at home, having won twice in this competition earlier this season.

In their most recent league game at home, Brighton and Hove Albion were held to a draw by Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Seagulls would have been forgiven if they thought the game was wrapped up thanks to Evan Ferguson's and Danny Welbeck's goals. However, Rayan Ait Nouri and Matheus Cunha's late goals spoiled the American Express Stadium party.

On the other hand, Liverpool have been excellent this season, having won 11 of their first 12 games under new manager Arne Slot and, more importantly, have recorded a great away record in the league and European front this season. The Reds are unbeaten away from home, having won all four games this season in the Premier League.

It is worth noting that Liverpool travel to face Arsenal at the Emirates prior to this game.

In one of the more recent away fixtures for Arne Slot’s side, Liverpool recorded a 1-0 victory against RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League. Liverpool had 57% of the possession in that game and found the breakthrough via Darwin Nunez, who tapped home Mohamed Salah’s header across goal.
