Liverpool vs Real Madrid Prediction

Liverpool face a huge game in the Champions League this week as they look to turn their season around following a torrid run of form.

The Reds' form has been mixed in recent weeks, with Arne Slot's side winning two and losing three of their last five games. Liverpool had lost six of seven games at one stage, but two wins from their last four have helped stabilise the team's slide. A 2-0 win over an in-form Aston Villa at the weekend side is a strong result and will dramatically improve the team's confidence.

Liverpool's game haven't been short on goals, with five of their last six outings producing over 2.5 goals while four of those six have seen BTTS occur. Liverpool have only lost twice at Anfield all season, and one of those was in the EFL Cup with a heavily rotated team, so they'll be confident of avoiding defeat here.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, are in good form with five wins from their last five games. Three of their last five games have seen over 2.5 goals scored while two of their last four on the road have seen BTTS occur.

Madrid played Liverpool at Anfield in this competition and were beaten 2-0, so they'll be well aware of the task in store. Despite Madrid's good form, their last particularly challenging away fixture was at Atletico Madrid at the end of September, and they were comfortably beaten 5-2.

Los Blancos have plenty of quality, but we think this one is likely to see the spoils shared.

Liverpool 2-2 Real Madrid

Liverpool vs Real Madrid Preview & Prediction

Liverpool's season is currently up in the air after a shoddy run of results and performances have exposed a plethora of weaknesses that few believed existed last season. Arne Slot's side have been on a serious skid, losing games to the likes of Galatasaray, Brentford, and Crystal Palace, but a first Premier League win in five games at the weekend will give them confidence heading into this encounter.

Many feel as though the big-name attacking incomings in the summer have thrown off the team's balance, while the buildup qualities provided by Trent Alexander-Arnold haven't been properly replaced either. Quite telling to that claim has been the fact that Florian Wirtz' place in the starting XI has become very uncertain, with the German starting the win over Aston Villa on the bench.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, are in decent shape coming into this game. Los Blancos are top of La Liga with ten wins from eleven games and are 5th in the Champions League table with three wins from three games. There has been a marked change in style under Xabi Alonso following the relaxed, relational style we saw for years under Carlo Ancelotti, but the evidence thus far would suggest that it's yielding returns.

A recent 2-1 win over Barcelona, which could have been much wider, was the peak result in Alonso's early tenure and a win over Liverpool would get somewhere close to equalling that in terms of marking the team's level.

Games this season haven't necessarily been the most entertaining, but Los Blancos always find a way to win and with Kylian Mbappe having scored 18 goals in 14 games in all competitions, they're always going to be in with a chance of winning.
