Birmingham City vs Millwall Prediction, Tips & Stats

After some midweek action in the EFL Cup, Birmingham City are back at St Andrew's as they look to keep up their excellent start to the 2023/24 season with Millwall up next after a return to the win column.

Birmingham may have only scored six goals in the league this season - which is the lowest inside the top 10 - but they have let in a stunning record of two goals in four games - this is the best record in the Football League right now.

The Blues' unbeaten record continued with a victory at home to Plymouth Argyle where Jay Stansfield scored the winner in the 95th minute before Scott Hogan scored after eight minutes.

A victory over Bristol City would come in next where Koji Miyoshi and Lukas Jutkiewicz netted in the 2-0 win, as the latter also scored in the win over Leeds United too. Back on the opening weekend, Siriki Dembele was the goalscorer in a 1-1 draw away to Swansea City.

As for Millwall, they've had a torrid season but returned to the win column with a winner from Kevin Nisbit in the home clash with Stoke City. Norwich City and Bristol City beat them in back-to-back games, as they were also smashed by Reading 4-0 at The Den in the EFL Cup first round.

We think another win is in order for the Blues with them looking too good in defence.

          Birmingham City team news

The Blues made a handful of changes to the lineup in midweek for the EFL Cup games, but a positive start in the season likely brings back Scott Hogan into the starting XI alongside Anderson, James and Miyoshi. Lukas Jutkiewicz has often started on the bench this season and may do so again here, while John Ruddy is expected back in goal for Neil Etheridge. Emmanuel Longelo and Jay Stansfield may start after missing the game last weekend. In defence, expect Bacuna, Long, Sanderson and Buchanan - the latter two were booked in the last outing.

          Millwall team news

Murray Wallace was back in the squad last time out against Stoke and should feature here, and the same applies for George Evans in the defensive side of things. Wes Harding is also likely to get some game time after his return from injury. Danny McNamara and Duncan Watmore both missed the 90 minutes against Stoke, and we likely see Tom Bradshaw and Kevin Nisbet stay in the forward lines. Zak Flemming should feature once more with Mitchell and Saville in midfield - the latter was booked in the last outing.
