Blackburn Rovers welcome Huddersfield Town to Ewood Park this weekend, where they will look to bounce back from last week’s defeat. However, when the sides met in the reverse fixture, the Terriers picked up a 3-0 win.
Blackburn
After missing out on the playoffs by goal difference last season, the Blackburn faithful would have hoped that this campaign would see them progress. However, they’re now 18th in the league after 27 games, with just 32 points. The Rovers performance in the final third isn’t a massive issue, as they score 1.48 goals per game, but their defence is the worst in the league, conceding 1.93 per match.
That was on display last time out, as Blackburn suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat on the road to West Brom. The visitors were 3-0 down by just after the half-hour mark, and they were pulled apart on the break continuously.
Huddersfield
The Terriers have struggled this season, and they currently sit in 21st place, just four points and one place above the drop zone. It’s clear that their biggest issue has been in the final third, as they’ve only scored 27 goals in 27 games, but in truth, Huddersfield have also struggled in defence, as they’ve suffered the fourth most goals, 44.
Last time out, Darren Moore’s side picked up a point in a 1-1 home draw against Plymouth. This result put an end to their three-game losing streak, and the boss will be pleased with how his side played overall.
Verdict?
Blackburn have won just one of their last nine Championship games, so they will be desperate to turn their season around this weekend.
Huddersfield will look to build on their draw and solid performance against Plymouth, but given that the hosts have only drawn once all season, this game should see one side pick up three points.
The final prediction is Blackburn 2-1 Huddersfield.
