Blackburn Rovers and Sunderland will clash at Ewood Park in a massive midweek clash that saw both sides return to the win column over the weekend in the midst of a troubling start for the two.
Sunderland have now registered more wins than losses for the first time this season with them securing three victories and losing two matches. The Black Cats smashed Southampton in a stunning 5-0 win just before the international break, as Jack Clarke bagged after one minutes before Pierre Ekwah scored twice.
Bradley Dack also got off and running for Sunderland that day with a finish before Chris Rigg netted in stoppage time. Stunningly, Sunderland saw just 31% of the ball in that game but managed to put together 10 shots on target and 18 efforts in general.
The other win for Sunderland before their recent victory over Queens Park Rangers saw them beat Rotherham United by a narrow 2-1 scoreline at the Stadium of Light. Jobe Bellingham was the hero that day with two goals, but he has yet to hit the target since. Against QPR, Clarke, Daniel Ballard and Abdoullah Ba all scored a goal in the 3-1 win at Loftus Road.
Sunderland have also drawn 0-0 with Coventry City this season, while also losing to Ipswich Town on the opening weekend before a 2-1 defeat to Preston North End.
As for Blackburn, their recent win over Boro moved them into eighth and just one place behind Sunderland in the table. The club have also managed to smash Harrogate Town of League Two in the EFL Cup second round, but by losing 3-0 in an away trip to Plymouth Argyle soon after, Rovers have practically sumarised their topsy-turvy nature in the past few weeks.
