Blackpool vs. Wigan Prediction, Tips & Stats

For our Blackpool vs. Wigan prediction, we're going fr a 1-1 draw.

The Championship's two worst sides meet this weekend as Blackpool host Wigan Athletic.

Blackpool currently sit 23rd in League One with eight wins, eleven draws and twenty-two losses from forty-one games this season.

The Tangerines have had a dismal season in the Championship this time around as they look all but set to drop back down to League One.

They enter this game in awful form having lost their last four consecutive matches by an aggregate scoreline of 13-4.

Their most recent encounter saw them fall to a 3-1 defeat away at Luton Town, a result in which there is no shame given Luton's league position but given Blackpool's desperation for wins that will be no consolation.

Their form at home reads much more positively having won two, drawn one and lost two of their last five matches on home soil.

Blackpool are now seven points shy of safety with just five games remaining and while they are not mathematically gone it will take a monumental turnaround for them to salvage their Championship status now.

Wigan Athletic currently sit rock bottom of the Championship with eight wins, thirteen draws and twenty losses from forty-one games this season.

Wigan have had a season equally glum to that of Blackpool as they find themselves almost certain to be relegation to League One come May.

Their form is mixed of late having won one, drawn two and lost two of their last five matches but having lost their last two on the bounce it feels as though they're trending in the wrong direction.

Their most recent game saw them fall to a disappointing 0-2 loss at home to Swansea City.

Their form away from home is abysmal having failed to win on the road since a 2-0 win at Rotherham back in October.

Wigan did beat Blackpool 2-1 when the two sides met back in November and Wigan will probably feel better equipped to take three points from this one given they're the side on better, albeit marginally, form.

Wigan are eight points shy of safety with five games left to play and are, unfortunately all but down. A win here would still give them a fighting chance but that would still be slim.
