For our Burnley vs. Sunderland prediction, we're going for a 3-1 win for the home side.
Burnley continue their title charge as they face Championship play-off hopefuls at Turf Moor on Friday night.
Burnley currently sit top of the Championship with twenty-four wins, eleven draws and two losses from thirty seven games this season.
The Clarets have frankly stormed the Championship this time around and are a near certainty to secure promotion back to the Premier League, with the only remaining question being whether or not they will be crowned champions.
They enter this game unbeaten in their last seventeen league matches having won three of their last four, the most recent of which was a 3-1 win away at Hull City.
Their most recent game overall saw them thumped 6-0 away at Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter-final, a result that while bad is probably not a cause for concern given the quality of opponent.
Their form at home is unwavering, with Vincent Kompany's side not losing a single game on home soil all season in all competitions.
The Clarets are sixteen points clear of Middlesbrough in 3rd with a game in hand and are, in reality, as good as promoted. Burnley need eight wins from their remaining nine matches to break the league's record points total, currently at 106 points, and while it's a long shot it's a realistically goal.
Sunderland currently sit 11th in the Championship with fourteen wins, eleven draws and thirteen losses from thirty-eight games this season.
On then whole, The Black Cats have had in impressive season back in the Championship following promotion from League One last time out but they have started to wobble in recent weeks after looking like a genuine play-off contender for most of last month.
They enter this game amidst a poor run of form having won just one of their last five games while drawing one and losing three of the other four.
Their most recent encounter saw them claim a solid point at home to Luton Town, a result that was only salvaged by an 86th minute penalty by Amad Diallo.
Sunderland's form on the road has still been fairly respectable of late having won two, drawn one and lost two of their last five away games, with their most recent trip a 1-0 win over Norwich City.
Sunderland were beaten 2-4 by Burnley when the two sides met at the Stadium of Light back October and given Burnley's impervious home form it's hard to envision a different result here.
The Black Cats are still only seven points shy of the play-offs but they're falling further adrift as the weeks pass by. Unfortunately for them it's unlikely they're going to gain any ground on the top six here.
