Josh Bowler scored the only goal of the game just before the halftime whistle to give Cardiff the 1 - 0 win over Watford. Preston took a 2 - 0 lead into halftime through goals from Emil Riis Jakobsen and Ben Whiteman. Despite having more shots on target, Cardiff were unable to score and slumped to a 2 - 0 loss.

West Brom took the lead in the first minute through Michael Johnston and Andreas Weimann doubled the lead with ten minutes to go. An own goal from Jenson Seelt got Stoke on the scoresheet, but it wasn’t enough as Sunderland held on for a 3 - 1 win. The next time out was one to forget against Leicester. A brace from Patson Daka and a brace from Jamie Vardy along with a goal from Kasey McAteer gave Leicester the 5 - 0 win over Stoke.

Stoke once again slipped to a 3 - 0 deficit, with a brace from Tyrhys Dolan and a goal from Sammie Szmodics giving Blackburn the 3 - 0 lead.
