Hull vs Watford Prediction, Tips & Stats

Hull City will look to further stamp their marker down in the playoffs before Christmas when they play hosts to Watford this weekend in the midst of a struggling season for the Hornets in the bottom half of the table.

Watford are down in 13th and have a perfect split of six wins, six draws and six defeats from the 18 games in the Championship. The Hornets have now also let in 22 goals but have scored 26 of their own, meaning they have the best goals difference record in the bottom half of the table.

Watford managed to get a win over Norwich City during the week to push them further up the table, as Ismael Kone and Mileta Rajovic scored goals each in the first half before Yader Apirlla scored late on the second half. They went 2-0 down inside two minutes that day on home soil to the Canaries, but with 66% of the ball in the end and nine shots on target, Watford were the better team.

Hull were also victorious back on Tuesday, as they eased to all three points by smashing Rotherham United 4-1. It keeps the Tigers ahead of Blackburn Rovers in seventh and subsequently puts a two-point gap on those outside of the playoff spots. Better yet, Hull will be fully aware that they can leap ahead of West Bromwich Albion this weekend with the Baggies playing hosts to first-placed Leicester City with just a two-point gap on them.

Over 1.5 goals, 5+ Hull City corners, 3+ Watford corners and each team 10+ booking points is at 2/1 in this game, while you can also get odds of 5/2 for BTTS, each team 1+ corners in each half and each team 10+ booking points. Hull City to win, BTTS, each team 4+ corners and each team 20+ booking points is also at 14/1 in contrast to the 22/1 odds for Watford to win, BTTS, each team 4+ corners and each team 20+ booking points.

          Hull team news

During the week, Aaron Connolly returned to full fitness for Hull and got minutes off the bench, and he could now start. Greg Docherty and Harry Vaughan were absent from the squad but should return here, while Ozan Tufan and Adama Traore started on the bench and came off it, so they should feature here. Alisop continues to keep Matt Ingram out of the team and should feature here in goal once more.

          Watford team news

Daniel Bachmann was sent off in the dying embers against Leicester City, but he can return to the lineup here instead of Ben Hamer. Mattie Pollock and Matheus Martins came off the bench in the last match and likely start here, while Tom Inc, Tom Fele-Bashiru and Imran Louza all missed the midweek win against Norwich and should feature here.
