The Den is the venue for Millwall versus Coventry on Saturday afternoon. The Lions were victorious in this exact fixture last season, but the Sky Blues won the most recent meeting 1-0.
Millwall
Millwall have massively struggled for consistency for this season and the Lions faithful will hope that new boss Joe Edward's can bring some much needed stability, whilst inspiring the attack. They have only netted 19 goals in 16 games, whilst conceding an average of 1.19 per game. Confidence and tactics in the final third have been hindered this season and it is one of the main reasons why Millwall are 15th in the table.
Edward's first game in charge of Milwall ended in a comfortable 4-0 away win versus Sheffield Wednesday. Three of the back four netted in the tie, as his side produced the perfect away counter-attack game plan. The Lions scored two goals in each half and were unlucky to not extend their lead further.
Coventry
The hangover from the Play-Off final defeat last season and losing their two best players still seems to be affecting Coventry and Mark Robins. The Sky Blues have lost four of their last five and haven't won since the start of October. This has put the side in 20th with only three wins from 16. Despite acquiring strikers, Coventry have not been able to replicate the goals that Viktor Gyokeres brought to the table, leading to them scoring only 1.19 goals per game. They are relatively solid at the back only suffering 21 goals all season, but they have won just once in eight attempts on the road.
Coventry's most recent match was a 0-0 home draw versus Stoke. The visitors were the side that dominated the ball, with the hosts looking to score on the break. Neither side showed enough in front of goal but the Sky Blues had the better opportunities.
Verdict?
Millwall currently have the third worst home record in the Championship, yet they will believe that three points is achievable against Coventry. New manager bounce is real and we should see it in action this weekend.
The final prediction is Milwall 1-0 Coventry.
