Norwich City and Hull City will clash on matchday one in the Championship this weekend with both sides looking to move on from very underwhelming seasons last time out with the Canaries finishing way adrift of a promotion race.
After finishing 13th in the Championship last campaign, Norwich ended up seven points behind sixth place in the second tier and never really found themselves in the race for a spot in the playoffs.
At the same time, the club managed to lose more games than they won, as they were dealt 18 defeats alongside 17 wins. The Canaries also struggled for goals last year with just 47 going in, and they are also now without Teemu Pukki after his move to Minnesota United.
A 13th-placed finish in the league also marked the worst finish in the Championship for Norwich for over a decade, and fans have not been able to take too much away from their preseason encounters.
Norwich drew 1-1 with Barnet in their first outing before defeating King's Lynn Town 6-1. David Wagner's side then took on Darmstadt of the 2. Bundesliga and left with a 1-0 win. 1. FCK were up next, and after a 0-0 draw, the club drew 1-1 with AZ Alkmaar before a 2-0 win over Greek champions, Olympiacos.
As for Hull, despite finishing tow places below Norwich in the table, the club also ended up four points behind Hull. The Tigers won three fewer games but also lost two fewer as well, scoring 51 goals along the way. However, their record of 61 goals let in was the worst in the top 15 of the Championship.
Hull, however, had a relatively decent preseason by beating the Turkish champions Galatasaray, while also drawing with Hatayspor, Bradford City, Nantes and Scunthorpe all by 1-1 scorelines. Hull also defeated Barnsley.
