Plymouth vs Middlesbrough Prediction, Tips & Stats

Plymouth Argyle and Middlesbrough will meet this weekend with the Pilgrims aiming to get a rare win this season after a dreadful beginning to life in the Championship just as Boro looks to keep on winning.

Boro started off in terrible form this season, just like last campaign. They have, however, finally started to piece together some form and are now up in 10th with 19 goals scored and 20 let in.

The North East side met with Exeter City during the week in a 3-2 win, as Morgan Rogers, Samuel Silvera and Emmanuel Latte Lath all scored goals each. This also came off the back of a 2-0 loss to Stoke City at the Riverside Stadium, while the club also defeated Birmingham City, Norwich City and Sunderland before that.

As for Plymouth, they are down in 19th after a 3-2 loss to Ipswich Town last time out, as Morgan Whittaker and Joe Edwards scored against their former League One foes. On the other hand, they did manage to secure a 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday before that and a 0-0 draw with West Bromwich Albion too.

Over 1.5 goals, 3+ Plymouth Argyle corners, 5+ Middlesbrough corners and each team 10+ booking points is up at 11/8 in this game, while you can get odds of 66/1 for BTTS in both halves, each team 2+ corners in each half and each team 20+ booking points and Middlesbrough to win, BTTS, each team 4+ corners and each team 20+ booking points is at 11/1. Plymouth Argyle to win, BTTS, each team 4+ corners and each team 20+ booking points is also at 20/1.

          Plymouth team news

Plymouth don't have that many injuries to worry about heading into this one and will field the likes of Morgan Whittaker and Ryan Hardie in this game, while Brice Mumba is facing a late fitness test. Azaz is also set to miss this game alongside Randell, but these are the only major injuries to worry about. Lee Cundle will start as a result, with Miller, Gibson, Scarr and Kesler-Hayden in defence. Joe Edwards will also come back into the starting XI now alongside Ben Waine and Matt Butcher. Jordan Houghton is another name who missed the loss to Ipswich and could feature.

          Middlesbrough team news

Boro made some changes to their usual team during the week when they beat Exeter City. Samuel Silvera scored in that game and may keep his place in the starting XI, but Matt Crooks should also return in this one. Jones and Latte Lath are two other names who should come into the starting XI. Josh Coburn is facing a late fitness test here, and we likely see Hackney and Daniel Barlaser play in midfield. Alex Gilbert, Matt Clarke and Jonny Howson all should get game time for Carrick's side. There are no other injuries to deal with.
