Blackburn Rovers will face a tough test in their playoff pursuit as they meet with Preston North End at Deepdale with the club clinging onto sixth in the Championship just as Preston moved down into 11th after another loss.
Preston suffered their 15th defeat of the season when they travelled to meet with Swansea City. Thomas Cannon scored in that game, but Preston were already 3-0 down by that stage, as Troy Parrott netted again off the bench late on in the game.
The Lilywhites remain in mid-table as a result with just three games left to play, but their dreams of getting into the playoffs are still not over. In fact, they are behind Blackburn by just two points in the race for the top six and a victory here could rocket them right into the playoff positions, depending on other results.
The worrying aspect in all this for Preston is how the close points tally between everyone likely forces goals difference into question at the end of the season, for which the club are currently sitting on -8 after letting in another four goals to take them to 51 for the season. They have also scored just 43 from 43 games.
As for Blackburn, they looked like taking a giant leap further into the playoff spots on Wednesday when Sam Gallagher netted another goal in the first half. However, stunningly, Coventry City's goalkeeper scored in the 95th minute of the game to snatch a point for them.
Rovers still have a game in hand to deal with here, however, and this could take them into fifth if they win it. Worryingly, they remain just one point ahead of West Bromwich Albion in seventh.
