West Brom vs. Middlesbrough Prediction, Tips & Stats

For our West Brom vs. Middlesbrough prediction, we're going for a 2-1 win for the away side.

Middlesbrough continue their automatic promotion hunt as they travel to the Midlands to face West Bromwich Albion.

West Bromwich Albion currently sit 10th in the Championship with twelve wins, nine draws and eleven losses from thirty-two games this season.

The Baggies started this season in abysmal fashion with manager Steve Bruce being dismissed from his position with his side sat in the relegation zone. Carlos Corberan was swiftly appointed and West Brom's form improved markedly, with The Baggies rising into the play-off positions at one stage.

However, their revival appears to have been short-lived as their form has reverted back to what they were producing in the early stages of the season as they enter this game having won one, drawn one and lost four of their last six matches in all competitions.

Most recently, The Baggies suffered a disappointing 3-2 loss away at Watford to make it three games without a win.

Their record at The Hawthorns is still mightily impressive, however, as they come into this game having won four and drawn one of their last five matches on home soil.

West Brom are only five points shy of the play-off spots and are still well in the mix for a top six finish, but on their current trajectory that is not going to happen and Corberan must look for ways to galvanise his side and help them produce the form they were exhibiting in the early weeks of his tenure at the club. Unfortunately, they're welcoming a side bang in form here as they search for a much-needed three points.

Middlesbrough currently sit 3rd in the Championship with seventeen wins, ten draws and six losses from thirty-three games this season.

Similar to their opponents, Middlesbrough were grossly underachieving in the early weeks of the season under Chris Wilder after being expected to be one of the league's main promotion candidates, and that early season form eventually led to Wilder's dismissal with Boro floating in and around the relegation places. It was that decision, along with his chosen replacement, that looks to have been a genuine master stroke by the Boro board.

Michael Carrick was the man tasked with succeeding Wilder and he's taken to the role like a duck to water, winning thirteen, drawing one and losing three of his seventeen league games in charge.

Middlesbrough are currently taking the Championship by storm and are steamrolling every side in their wake as they enter this game having won each of their last five consecutive league matches.

Most recently, Boro comfortably brushed aside Queens Park Rangers in a 3-1 win at home courtesy of goals from Chuba Akpom (X2) and Riley McGree.

Michael Carrick and Middlesbrough are looking close to unstoppable at the minute and while The Hawthorns is one of the league's tougher grounds to visit it's tough to see them dropping points anywhere on current form. They're only four points behind Sheffield United in 2nd and a win here would be a huge one in the context of automatic promotion. It'll be tough, but don't bet against them.
