West Bromwich Albion and Middlesbrough are set to clash at The Hawthorns this weekend with Boro aiming to get their first win on the board off the back of another dreadful start to the campaign in the Championship.
Just like last season, Middlesbrough have struggled tremendously in the first handful of games and sit down in the relegation zone as a result of their winless start. This time around, after the sacking of Neil Warnock because of such results, Michael Carrick is now in charge and facing a late of questions from the Riverside faithful.
Carrick has managed to lead his side to a win over Huddersfield Town this season, defeating the club with a 3-2 win away in Yorkshire. Samuel Silvera and Isiah Jones scored in the game before a winning goal in the 82nd minute from Riley McGree.
The club have on to lose to Coventry once again for the third time in 2023 after also suffering a loss to them in the Championship playoffs semi-finals. Carrick's men were also held to a draw last time out to Huddersfield in the league with them seeing Hayden Hackney score once more.
As for West Brom, it's been a much better start to the season for them, although they have still managed to lose to Blackburn Rovers on the opening weekend before a defeat in the EFL Cup first round to Stoke City. The Baggies then got their first win of the season by defeating Swansea City 3-2 at home with goals from Semi Ajayi and John Swift. The club headed on the road to meet with Leeds United last time out, drawing with the club 1-1 after taking a lead through Brandon Thomas-Asante.
