For our Wigan vs. Birmingham prediction, we're going for a 1-1 daw.
Two struggling sides meet in the Championship this weekend as Wigan Athletic face Birmingham City.
Wigan Athletic currently sit 24th in the Championship with seven wins, ten draws and sixteen losses from thirty-three games this season.
It's been a tough campaign for The Latics who after a decent start have spent the majority of the campaign struggling to climb out of the relegation zone and are now on their third manager of the season.
Their form has improved since Maloney took the reins but they still enter this game short on wins having won one, drawn three and lost one of their last five league matches.
Their most recent game saw them fall to a 2-1 defeat at local rivals Preston North End, too, having led 1-0 at half-time.
Their home form is poor overall having won just one of their last five games on home soil, but having taken four points from their last two on home soil they'll be hoping better things are to come.
Maloney's side are currently just four points off safety so they're well in the survival race but they can't afford to slip into a prolonged run of poor results. A home game against a woefully out of form Birmingham side is nothing short of a must win.
Birmingham City currently sit 19th in the Championship with ten wins, eight draws and sixteen losses from thirty-four games this season.
The Blues have had a fairly successful season on the whole after many had them penned as the runaway relegation favourites coming into the season amid off-field turmoil at the club, but they've largely defied those projections as they enter the final stretch of the season with a solid chance of survival.
They'll have to improve for that, though, as they enter this game amidst an egregious run of form having lost each of their last four consecutive league matches, the most recent of which was a 0-1 defeat at home to Luton Town.
Their away record has been fairly solid overall of late having won two, drawn one and lost two of their last five on the road, but having lost their last two away encounters there will be concern amongst the fanbase here.
Birmingham were beaten 0-1 by Wigan when the two sides last met in the league back in August, and while Wigan have declined since then Birmingham have too so there's little reason to enter this fixture with any conviction in favour of the away side.
