Wigan vs. Coventry Prediction, Tips & Stats

For our Wigan vs. Coventry prediction, we're going for a 1-0 win for the away side.

Wigan Athletic continue their desperate attempt to climb out of the Championship relegation zone as they face Coventry City on Tuesday night.

Wigan Athletic currently sit rock bottom of the Championship table with seven wins, eleven draws and eighteen losses from thirty-six games this season.

The Latics have had a difficult campaign back in the Championship following promotion from League One last time out and are looking increasingly likely to drop down to the third tier as the weeks go by.

They enter this game amidst a poor run of form having having to win any of their last five matches, drawing two and losing three.

Their most recent game saw them lose 3-0 to Burnley, a result that sealed a second consecutive defeat for Shaun Maloney's side.

Their form at home has been slightly more positive of late, however, with Wigan having taken five points from their last three games on home soil.

Wigan are currently six point shy of safety but with sides outside of the drop zone picking up wins that gap looks set to extend unless their form can make a miraculous turnaround. They face a tough game here against a well put together side and three points looks a long shot.

Coventry City currently sit 9th in the Championship with fourteen wins, eleven draws and eleven losses from thirty-six games this season.

The Sky Blues have had an impressive campaign this time out following a torrid start as they find themselves within touching distance of the play-off places with ten games remaining.

They enter this game amidst a commendable unbeaten run having won four and drawn three of their last seven matches in the league.

They will, though, be slightly disappointed to have only taken a point from their most recent game at home to Hull City in a 1-1 draw.

Their away form is very encouraging coming into this game, with Coventry having won two and drawn one of their last three games on the road having not conceded a single goal in that period.

Coventry beat Wigan 2-0 when the two sides met in the league back in November and given how Wigan's situation has not improved since that game they'll be confident of doing the double here.

Wigan could certainly make this competitive but it's a game Coventry should be looking to take three points from if they have play-off ambitions.
