            Wigan vs QPR Prediction

For our Wigan Athletic vs Queens Park Rangers prediction, we are predicting a draw.

The relegation battle in the Championship will be contested this year - especially since as many as six teams could genuinely have a chance of falling into League One. Saturday could prove pivotal as we approach the end of the season, as Wigan Athletic hosts Queens Park Rangers.

Wigan Athletic look to be consigned to a season in League One next season. The Latics are currently bottom of the league table, having played 38 games this season. The hosts must start winning to survive the drop - they are currently eight points off Cardiff City, who have played a game more.

If history is anything to go by, then Wigan Athletic are no strangers to an impossible task. In 2012, when they were rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table - they managed to win seven out of their last ten games to survive. They will essentially need that level of form if they was to survive the Championship this season.

The Latics have not been in good form heading into this game. Three points from a possible 15 have not helped their cause, and they have found goals hard to come by in that time. In their last five games, they have scored three goals- the same number of points picked up. It is worth noting that Wigan Athletic are unbeaten in their previous four home league games. This could provide a good omen for the weekend.

Coincidentally the last victory was a home win over fellow relegation candidates Huddersfield Town. Since the victory, they have gone eight without a win which has not helped their cause. Their most recent game was a 1-1 draw at home to Watford.

The reverse fixture was a tight affair between the two sides as Queens Park Rangers beat Wigan Athletic 2-1 thanks to goals from Sam Field and Leon Balogun.

As for the visitors, Queens Park Rangers have failed to sustain their early season form and are now six points ahead of Huddersfield Town, who are in 22nd. The stark contrast in results compared to mid-November is quite incredible.

Just before the World Cup was due to begin, the away side was in sixth place in the league with 31 points. They now occupy 19th, having only picked up 11 points since then.

The away side enters this game with the same form as their opponents but with different results. Unlike Wigan Athletic, Queens Park Rangers have won a game but have also lost the remaining four. The visitors know that a win would provide a big step in the battle for survival.
