England vs Japan Prediction

England are looking to sign off the international break with a win as they take on Japan on Tuesday night.

England come into this game on the back of a forgettable 1-1 draw with Uruguay last week. A much-changed XI shared the spoils with an extremely cynical Uruguay team in what was a game short of fluidity and meaningful action.

Still, the game extended England's unbeaten run under Thomas Tuchel to seven games, with the Three Lions winning six of those. England are also unbeaten at Wembley in well over a year, where an experimental side managed by Lee Carsley fell to a 1-2 loss to Greece.

England have been extremely good defensively in that period, conceding just one goal in their last seven games, which was a contentious late penalty against Uruguay Going forward, England have been potent, scoring 20 goals in their last seven outings.

As planned, several squad members have departed and headed back home, including Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Adam Wharton and Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Many of the team's first choice names have returned, however, including captain Harry Kane, who has four goals in his last three appearances for the Three Lions.

Japan, meanwhile, enter this game following a 1-0 win over Scotland on Saturday. An even game saw Junya Ito bag a late winner to seal a notable win for the team.

Their away form, though, has been unconvincing of late, with two wins, one draw and two defeats from their last five games. Their defeats came against Australia (1-0) and the USA (2-0), while their draw (0-0) came against Mexico, representing a disappointing set of results.

Japan will be competitive, but ultimately, they head to Wembley as clear underdogs. Tuchel is expected to name close to a full strength XI here so the expectation will very much be that England perform.

England 2-0 Japan
