League leaders Arsenal can take a monumental step towards the Premier League title, as they take on last season's champions Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday.
The Gunners under Mikel Arteta have a six-point lead at the top of the Premier League, with the home side looking to make a statement with a win in this fixture. Arsenal are in terrific form, as the Gunners have won their last seven matches and taking a maximum of 15 points from their last five games with wins against Bournemouth (2-3), Aston Villa (4-1), Brighton & Hove Albion (2-1), Everton (0-1) & Wolves (2-1). The key factor in Arsenal's successful season thus far has been their home record, with the home side unbeaten after 10 matches, with nine wins and no losses and only five goals conceded at the Emirates in 10 games.
As for Liverpool, their unbeaten run suggests the Reds are on an upward trajectory in the league standings; however, their performances have not improved under Arne Slot. Liverpool's style of play seems to be a defensive-first approach, and their attacking options have been limited by injuries and a system that has stagnated the forward line this season. Liverpool are without a league win at the Emirates in their last three attempts, and away from home this season, the visitors have lost 40% of their away matches.
This is where Liverpool's nine-game unbeaten run ends, unfortunately for the Reds. Too many of their recent performances have been less than convincing, and with Arsenal in the ascendancy, we can see a 1-0 win for the Gunners in a tightly-contested fixture.
Arsenal 1-0 Liverpool
