Everton vs Arsenal Prediction

Everton versus Arsenal will be a closely-fought match-up, as Everton have proven to be a difficult side to beat under David Moyes, as they have lost just three of their 12 matches under the Scotsman, while Arsenal sit second in the Premier League and have suffered just three league defeats all campaign.

Entering this game, the Gunners have the superior head-to-head record of late in this fixture, as they have won four, drawn one and lost one of their last six meetings with the Toffees.

In terms of home and away records, Everton’s home form at Goodison Park is the 13th-best in the Premier League, as they have picked up 19 points from 15 games, having won four, drawn seven and lost four. On the other hand, Arsenal have the second-best away record in the division, accumulating 27 points from 15 games, winning seven, drawing six and losing just twice.

Both of these sides are solid but unspectacular to watch at times, as Everton average just 1.4 goals per game at home, while Arsenal average 1.66 goals away from home while conceding just 0.86 goals. Due to the Gunners’ defensive record, we predict that they’ll earn a slender victory on Merseyside.

Everton 0-1 Arsenal

Everton vs Arsenal Prediction & Preview

In Saturday’s early kick-off, 15th-place Everton hosts second in the table Arsenal at Goodison Park in what is expected to be a closely contested Premier League encounter.

Date: 05/04/2025

Location: Goodison Park

Time: 12:30pm

The last meeting between these two sides resulted in a 0-0 draw at the Emirates Stadium back on 14th December 2024, while the most recent encounter between these two teams at Goodison Park in September 2023 saw Arsenal beat Everton 1-0 as Leandro Trossard fired in the only goal of the game in the 69th-minute of the game.

Everton are a much-improved outfit under David Moyes, as they have won four, drawn five and lost just three of their 12 matches under the Scotsman, seeing them sit 15th in the table with 34 points, 14 points clear of the relegation zone, something of which they were threatening to fall into under Sean Dyche.

The ex-Burnley manager had done a fantastic job of stabilizing the club in what were difficult times due to FFP situations which eventually resulted into points deductions, as he ultimately helped save the club from relegation in 2022/23, on top of earning a 15th-place finish last season, however, fans of the club believed that his football was stale and that there was a lack of progression. When Dyche was sacked on 9th January, the Toffees had won just three of their last 19 games and sat one point above the relegation zone.

On the other hand, Arsenal are managed by ex-Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta and are having a solid but unspectacular season, as they sit second in the table with 61 points from 30 games, winning 17, drawing ten and losing just three times.

The Gunners were expected to compete and even potentially win the Premier League title for the first time since 2004, however, they have come unstuck due to a lack of creativity at times, meaning that they sit 12 points behind Liverpool with just eight games to go.

Arsenal’s season doesn’t solely rely on league performance at this stage though, as they are in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League having progressed past PSV 9-3 on aggregate after finishing third in the Group Stage with 19 points from eight matches. They face the unenviable task of facing Real Madrid in the quarter-finals.

Form Guide

Everton

Following their 1-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Merseyside Derby, Everton are without a win in their last five matches.

Prior to that loss, the Toffees had drawn 1-1 with the likes of West Ham United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brentford after a dramatic 2-2 draw with Manchester United. During that game with United, Everton raced into a 2-0 lead thanks to goals by Beto and Abdoulaye Doucoure, before late goals from Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte rescued a point for the Red Devils.

Arsenal

Arsenal are unbeaten in their last five matches, having won three and drawn two.

The Gunners managed to thrash PSV 9-3 on aggregate, with those two Champions League legs being played out on either side of a 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Arteta’s side have managed to keep their feint title hopes alive with narrow victories over Chelsea (1-0) and Fulham (2-1) with Mikel Merino and Bukayo Saka scoring against the Cottagers.
