Aston Villa are hoping to arrest their poor start to the season as they lock horns with Everton on Merseyside.
- Date: 13/09/2025
- Kick-off: 3:00pm
- Location: Hill Dickinson Stadium, Liverpool
Everton have enjoyed a decent start to the season, winning two and losing one of their first three games. The Toffees kicked off with a 1-0 loss away at Leeds United, only to then pick up successive wins, firstly with a 2-0 win over Brighton and secondly with a 3-2 win away at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Everton have done some very solid business over the summer and given how strongly they finished last season following David Moyes' return to the club, expectations for this season are high. The entire club seems to be buoyed by the start that Jack Grealish has made to his Everton career, with the England international recording four assists in three games. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has also made a good start his Everton career, while fans will hope that Tyler Dibling, Thierno Barry and Adam Aznou can add new dimensions to the team in the coming months.
Everton are hard to beat on home soil and have lost only one league game - a 0-2 loss to Manchester City - in front of their own fans from their last ten. Given how they've started the season, they'll likely be the more confident of the two heading into this one.
Aston Villa have endured a worrying start to the campaign, drawing one and losing two of their first three games. A 0-0 draw with Newcastle on the opening weekend preceded defeats against Brentford (1-0) and Crystal Palace (0-3) to mark a very poor start to the league season.
Unai Emery won't be worried yet, and there is hope that deadline additions Harvey Elliott and Jadon Sancho will provide a much-needed spark to a flailing team that's been extremely toothless in its early performances.
Villa's away record has been pretty poor of late, with the Midlands club losing four of their last five games on the road. Given they're playing an ascendant team with a strong home record, it doesn't bode particularly well for Unai Emery and co.
