Everton's push for a European spot continues this weekend as they take on relegation certainties Burnley.
The Toffees are having a strong season and find themselves right in the battle for a top seven finish, sitting three points behind Brentford in 7th. They enter the game off the back of a 3-2 win away at Newcastle, where they twice swiftly retook the lead after conceding in what was a display of strong character.
Following that result, their form is decent, with David Moyes' side recording three wins, two draws and two defeats from their last seven. They've been a very reliable BTTS pick in recent weeks too, having seen both teams score in eight of their last ten matches. Similarly, over 2.5 goals have occurred in five of their last ten outings.
Burnley, meanwhile, are staring down the barrel of relegation as they sit 19th with 19 points, eight points shy of safety. They endured a heartbreaking encounter at the weekend, when they fought back from 0-3 down at home to Brentford to square the game at 3-3, before thinking they'd gone ahead with a Zian Flemming goal, only to have it ruled out after VAR flagged a marginal offside. Brentford then snatched the game with a stoppage-time winner, but Burnley thought they'd again drawn level with a dramatic goal nine minutes into added time, only for VAR to intervene once again and rule the goal out for a handball.
That result means the Clarets now have only one league win since October, meaning they are as good as relegated. Like Everton, they've seen BTTS occur in eight of their last ten games, while over 2.5 goals have been scored in seven of their last ten. Burnley should put up a solid fight here as they're not short on spirit, but the weekend's game will have been a huge psychological blow and it they might struggle to regroup in time to beat an Everton side fighting for Europe.
