Everton vs Ipswich Prediction

Ipswich Town are already relegated, and with Everton hoping to produce a performance in their penultimate game at Goodison Park, we think the Toffees will secure a routine victory against Kieran McKenna’s side.

Everton’s home record is relatively strong under David Moyes, as although they have drawn four of their previous five matches and lost once, the Toffees have only lost twice at home in two months since David Moyes’ arrival back at Goodison Park.

As for Ipswich Town, relegation was confirmed against Newcastle United, and now, seemingly with nothing to play for, their confidence and mindset could be elsewhere, with their mind now set on the Championship. The Tractor Boys are winless in their previous four games and have not kept a clean sheet in their last 16 matches.

If the reverse meeting is anything to judge this game, then Everton should be the favourites here. Games involving Everton are usually low-scoring affairs, and with less than 2.5 goals landing in the last eight matches involving the Toffees, we are going for a 2-0 home win.

Everton 2-0 Ipswich Town

Everton vs Ipswich Preview & Prediction

Everton’s penultimate game at Goodison Park sees them take on an Ipswich Town side who are already relegated from the Premier League with four games to go.

Date: 03/05/2025
Location: Goodison Park, Liverpool.
Kick-Off: 3 pm

The appointment of David Moyes and his return to the club for the first time since 2013 has proven to be a shrewd managerial appointment from the newly appointed Everton board in January. David Moyes has averaged 1.31 points per game since his return to Goodison Park and has only lost five of his 16 matches in all competitions. Moyes has steered Everton away from the relegation zone, and the Toffees will now play Premier League football at their new stadium next season. Everton are in 15th place in the Premier League, with 38 points gained from 34 matches played - scoring 34 and conceding 41.

A win for the Toffees could move the home side ahead of Manchester United in the Premier League table and potentially ahead of Wolves should both sides lose their respective matches.

Ipswich Town have found the jump from League One to the Premier League too difficult a step up, as the visitors are officially relegated following their defeat against Newcastle United (3-0). The Tractor Boys have been statistically the best side of the three promoted sides, as they are three points clear of Leicester City and 10 points clear of Southampton. Ipswich have scored 33 goals this season; however, defensively, the away side has conceded 74.

The reverse fixture between the two sides was an important one for Everton, as they secured a 2-0 win at Portman Road thanks to goals from Michael Keane and Iliman Ndiaye.

Form Guide

Everton:

Everton are coming into this game following two consecutive defeats against Manchester City (0-2) and Chelsea (1-0). The Toffees have picked up notable results, including a late winner away at Nottingham Forest (0-1) through Abdoulaye Doucoure, as well as a credible 1-1 draw against Arsenal. Everton have a particular habit of gaining draws, with the home side recording five draws in their last nine games, with four scorelines ending 1-1.

On home soil, Everton have won four matches, drawn eight and lost five. The Toffees have drawn four of their previous five home matches, with notable 2-2 draws against Manchester United and Liverpool.

Ipswich:

Ipswich Town are on a terrible run of form, having won no matches in their previous four, following three defeats against Newcastle United (3-0), Arsenal (0-4), and Wolves (2-1). The visitors had gained a 2-2 draw away at Stamford Bridge, along with a 2-1 win against Bournemouth.

Away from home, the two results against Bournemouth and Chelsea are the only points Kieran McKenna’s side have gained on the road in their previous five away games, with further defeats against Manchester United (3-2) and Crystal Palace (1-0).
