Leeds United are hoping to take a big stride towards safety as they take on Sunderland at Elland Road this week.
Leeds come into the game in 15th with 31 points from 28 games. The Peacocks are having a very good season and find themselves in a strong position to secure another year of Premier League football.
Daniel Farke's team have only three defeats in their last 17 games in all competitions, and two of those came against Arsenal and Manchester City. Leeds will feel as though their performances have warranted more points than they currently have on the board, and that's likely true, as they've been consistently good for a number of months now. An excessive number of draws have stopped them pulling clear of the relegation battle, but they still have time to rectify that.
Their last seven games on home soil have seen three wins, two draws and two losses, with the two losses coming against the league's top two teams. Seven of their last ten games in all competitions have seen BTTS occur, while six of their last ten have seen over 2.5 goals scored.
Sunderland, meanwhile, are gunning for a top half finish. An excellent season has seen them accumulate 37 points with then games remaining, and they'll hope to further advance up the table.
They have three wins and four defeats from their last seven in the league, but only one of their wins came in their last five games, so their form has taken a slight dip. They've largely struggled on the road, facing to win any of their last nine league games away from home. Five of their last ten games have seen BTTS occur, while seven of their last ten have seen over 2.5 goals scored.
All in all, Leeds' strong home form combined with Sunderland's struggles on the road gives the home side a clear edge here, and they'll fancy their chances of picking up what would be a huge win.
Leeds 2-1 Sunderland
