On Sunday, 13th April, Liverpool hosts West Ham United in a battle between first and 16th in the Premier League table.
Date: 13/04/2025
Location: Anfield
Time: 2pm
This will be the third time that these two sides have faced off this season, as Liverpool thrashed West Ham 5-1 in the League Cup at Anfield back on 25th September as Diogo Jota (2), Cody Gakpo (2) and Mohamed Salah all got on the scoresheet while Jarell Quansah scored an own goal and Edson Alvarez was sent off.
In the reverse league fixture at the London Stadium, Liverpool emerged as 5-0 victors as Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota all found the back of the net.
Liverpool’s sole focus is on the Premier League as they recently crashed out of the Champions League to PSG on penalties after a 1-1 aggregate draw, while also suffering cup defeats at the hands of Plymouth Argyle and Newcastle United.
The Reds sit on 73 points from 31 matches, meaning that they have what looks like an unassailable lead on Arsenal, as the Gunners are 11 points adrift, meaning that Liverpool are just four wins away from a record-equalling 20th top-flight league title.
West Ham have had a turbulent campaign, as they are 16th in the Premier League with just 35 points from 31 matches, seeing them sit ten points off the top half of the table, while also being 15 points clear of 18th-place Ipswich Town, meaning that they are all but safe for another season.
The Irons started the campaign off under Julen Lopetegui, however, the Spaniard was sacked on 8th January after winning just seven of his 22 matches in charge, seeing him depart with a 31.82% win percentage.
Thus far, despite Potter having an inferior record to Lopetegui, the Hammers faithful seem to be giving the ex-Chelsea manager time as they hope for a more expansive style of play in forthcoming seasons.
