Manchester City are hoping to keep their place at the top of the Premier League table as they lock horns with Ipswich Town this weekend.
Manchester City enter this game top of the table with six wins from six games. The club is in a peculiar limbo position, not knowing whether any of the points they accumulate over the next few months will even matter given they may have a mammoth points deduction impending.
The team's 3-0 win at Anfield last weekend suggested that won't deter them, though, as they attempt to stand defiant in the face of the (understandable) vitriol that is coming their way from numerous corners of the footballing world.
They were brought back to Earth in midweek somewhat, losing 2-4 to PSG in a highly entertaining game where Erling Haaland scored his 9th and 10th goals of the season. Entertainment has been the theme of City's games this season, with over 2.5 goals being scored in four of their last five outings.
Ipswich, meanwhile, are currently 10th in the Premier League with nine points from six games. Wins over Sunderland (2-1), Crystal Palace (3-2) and Fulham (2-1) have given the Tractor Boys and excellent platform from which to build.
They'll be wary about their recent record against this weekend's opponents, however, with Ipswich having lost by an aggregate score of 10-1 when they last faced off against City in the 2024-25 season.
For whatever it's worth, they'll have the support of most of the nation behind them this weekend but their task is herculean. If they avoid a defeat by three goals or more, they'll probably come away happy.
Man City 4-1 Ipswich
