Newcastle face off against Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend in what should be an interesting encounter.

Recent meetings between these two teams have been very competitive, with Newcastle winning three of the last five head-to-head matchups and Arsenal winning two. These games don't tend to produce too many goals, with under 2.5 goals being scored in four of the last five meetings.

Newcastle no longer have Alexander Isak, who has been a thorn in Arsenal's side in recent matchups, but Arsenal's record at St. James' Park is poor, with the Gunners winning only one of their last five trips to Tyneside.

It's likely to be a very competitive game, but with four of Newcastle's five league games and three of Arsenal's five in the league all seeing under 2.5 goals scored, don't expect it to be the most entertaining affair.

Arsenal are coming into this game in a tough position. Manager Mikel Arteta is coming under intense criticism following games against Liverpool and Manchester City, where he was accused of cowardice with his negative team selections and conservative tactics.

The season is still in a very early stage but given how much money has been spent on the squad and how long he's been in the job, there is a lot of pressure on Arteta to win a major trophy this year. The Gunners cannot afford to let negativity overwhelm their campaign so early in the season or their league title hopes will quickly start to diminish

They have a huge chance to get people back on side here in what is a tough game, and should Arteta opt for a bold lineup and approach, he'll receive a significant amount of goodwill from fans and pundits - should he be rewarded with a strong performance and result.
