Newcastle United vs Bournemouth Prediction

Newcastle have picked up four points from a possible six so far this season and progressed into the next round of the League Cup, so it's been a very positive start for new manager Matthias Jaissle.

Bournemouth provide the opposition at St James' Park on Saturday, and the visitors arrive having only secured one point despite decent performances in both games against Manchester City and Everton.

It's been a while since the Magpies beat the Cherries in the Premier League, six years to be exact, but Saturday's hosts head into this game full of confidence following a very promising start to the campaign which probably should have produced three wins across all competitions.

Bournemouth slipped to a 2-1 defeat at the Etihad Stadium late on, after leading for most of the game, and looked like they were going to beat Everton, only to concede another stoppage-time goal and have to settle for a point.

Yoane Wissa really struggled in his debut season with the Magpies, but his start to the 2026/27 campaign has been a stark contrast. The 29-year-old forward has scored one goal and claimed an assist in his opening two starts, finishing expertly in the 2-0 victory over Tottenham last time out.

The DR Congo striker is clearly enjoying life under Newcastle's new manager, and we're expecting another top performance from the former Brentford man when he goes up against a Bournemouth side whose defence has let them down in both of their games.

Newcastle 2-1 Bournemouth
