The London derby on Friday (18/08/2025) presents both Graham Potter and Enzo Maresca a great opportunity to secure their first win of the season; however, with West Ham United's recent performances, stretching back to last season, the Blues should be tasting victory in this fixture.

The Hammers' dismal showing against Sunderland highlighted the weaknesses in their squad at this current stage, as the home side has yet to find an adequate replacement for the departing Mohammed Kudus, who left for Tottenham Hotspur. Over 2.5 goals have landed in five of the last six meetings, and we think that trend will continue here, in a 3-1 victory for the Blues.

Jarrod Bowen was the only player who had shown any capability of providing an attacking outlet, as Sunderland's new look Premier League side, swept the Hammers aside in a comfortable 3-0 victory thanks to goals from Eliezer Mayenda, Wilson Isidor and Dan Ballard.

Chelsea began their campaign with another fixture against a London-based side; however, the Blues also came away from that game without a victory after they were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Crystal Palace. The Eagles were rather unfortunate not to walk away with all three points, given Eberechi Eze had a free-kick goal controversially disallowed.
