West Ham United host Sunderland in the lunchtime fixture this weekend, as the Hammers look to build on their dramatic victory away at Tottenham Hotspur.
Callum Wilson was on hand to score a 93rd-minute winner for West Ham United, to end the Irons' winless run in the Premier League, which spanned back to the start of November. West Ham United's main issue has been their disastrous form, as the Hammers have the second-worst home record in the Premier League, with seven points accumulated at the London Stadium and having lost 73% of their fixtures on home soil this campaign. West Ham United last achieved a league win at home back in November, when they beat Burnley (3-2), and since then, the home side has lost four of their last five matches at the London Stadium. Sunderland will fancy their chances in the attacking department, as West Ham United have conceded 2.27 goals per game at home.
Sunderland will have a fully refreshed squad now that AFCON is over, and during the absence of some of their key players, the Black Cats managed to pick up results against the likes of Manchester City (0-0) and Tottenham Hotspur (1-1). The visitors head into this game with two straight wins in all competitions, having beaten Crystal Palace from a goal behind at the Stadium of Light. Admittedly, Sunderland's away record needs to improve, but facing a West Ham United side that has failed to keep a clean sheet in 20 matches could turn the tide in that regard.
Despite the win against Spurs, West Ham United are still likely to concede chances, and with that, we are going for a Sunderland win here.
West Ham 1-2 Sunderland.
