The Europa Conference League is back this Thursday with the playoffs to determine who will get a shot in the round of 16 draw next week as Ajax welcomes Bodo/Glimt to the Amsterdam Arena.
The Eredivisie side are still struggling this season, and although there has been a dramatic climb up the league into fifth and far away from the relegation they were once near, Ajax still remain in fifth and are staring in the face of another season without Champions League football.
The serial winners of the Dutch top flight currently sit outside of all of the European spots, and with only the top two in the Eredivisie claiming a Champions League spot, Ajax are now adrift of Feyenoord by 14 points and even behind the Europa League spot of third by eight points.
Ajax did lose yet again last time out as well, and despite getting a commendable draw against the runaway league leaders, PSV Eindhoven, and becoming just the second team to take points off them this season, they have now lost six times and let in 39 goals after a 3-2 loss to Heerenveen.
The last win for Ajax came against Heracles away from home, as Brian Brobbey scored a goal in either half alongside a finish each from Steven Berghuis and Kristian Hlynsson. Once again, however, Ajax went a goal down that day.
Bodo/Glimt are currently in the offseason due to the Eliteserien ending back in early December with a 2-0 win over Sarspborg that saw goals each from Nino Zugelj and Amahl Pellegrino. The club did also managed to beat Molde to the title and reclaim the Eliteserien back off them after a defeat to the Norwegian giants last campaign.
Across the 30-game season, Bodo/Glimt secured 22 wins from 30 games and managed to lose four times and draw the other four. This saw them put together by far the best goals scored record with 78 netted in total. The last competitive game in Norway, however, saw Bodo/Glimt fall to a 1-0 defeat to Molde in early December, as they were then defeated 3-1 in the final Europa Conference League group stage.
