Servette and Ludogorets are set to clash in the Europa Conference League playoffs this Thursday with the Swiss Super League side narrow favourites to win at home at the Stade de Geneve.
The Swiss side head into this game down in second after a second-placed finish last time out, while they come into these Europa Conference League games off the back of a loss to Yverdon in the league.
Servette also struggled in their Europa League group stage campaign and finished a troubling eight points adrift of Roma in second and behind Slavia Praha at the top of Group G by 10 points. They were four above Sheriff Tiraspol in Group G, but the only win on the board for Servette in the Europa League was over the last-placed side in that group.
Since the final game in the Europa League for them where they lost to Praha 4-0, they have gone on to defeat Hibernian 5-1 in a friendly and also beat Gulf United in another friendly during the Swiss Super League winter break. Further wins over Yverdon, St. Gallen and Stade Lausanne-Ouchy means only the loss to Yverdon is all they've suffered in the past month. The club have also drawn 2-2 with Lugano and 3-3 with Winterthur.
Such a room of form puts the club seven points behind Young Boys in the race for the Swiss Super League title, as Servette have racked up 11 wins, eight draws and four losses. The club have also managed to put together a decent tally of 40 goals scored and 28 conceded.
As for Ludogorets, they are also second in the First League but head into this one off the back of a Super Cup final win over CSKA 1948 where the club won on penalties after a 1-1 draw. The last league outing saw them draw 1-1 with Milada Boleslav.
Ludogorets are into the playoffs as a result of finishing second in brutal fashion in Group H. This saw them level on points with Fenerbahce with both clubs having 11 goals conceded. However, a two-goal inferiority in the goals for margin meant a playoffs route for the Bulgarian side and the Super Lig giants into the round of 16 draw next week.
This did also mean just two losses in the group stages for Ludogorets, as they managed to beat Nordsjaelland 1-0, despite suffering a stunning 7-1 defeat to them in the reverse fixture. Ludogorets also managed to beat Fenerbahce and lose to them as well, beating Spartak Trnava home and away by scoring four goals in each match.
