Trabzonspor and Basel will clash in the Europa Conference League this Thursday evening in Turkey at the Şenol Güneş Stadium with both sides still struggling for form in their respective leagues.
Trabzonspor will play out their first game in all competitions since the earthquake hit the nation. It will bring a moment of silence before the game and it also means the club have not played in 11 days since their loss to Galatasaray.
The club's recent loss forces them into sixth and the defence of their Super Lig title is not going well at all. They are currently level on points with fourth and fifth in the league and sit behind Istanbul Basakheir in third by just two points. However, the loss to Galatasaray means they are now 16 points behind top spot and also below Fenerbahce in second by seven points.
Trabzonspor also head a terrible Europa League campaign, despite registering a stunning 4-0 win over the high-flying Ligue 1 side, Monaco. They have also beaten Ferencvaros in the Europa League as well. but lost to Monaco, Red Star Belgrade and Ferencvaros to force them into third and behind the top two by one point.
As for Basel, they come into this one also in sixth in their own league. The club returned to the win column last time against Sion in a 3-1, as they lost 1-0 to Grasshoppers just prior to this and defeated the same club 5-3 in the Swiss Cup round of 16 two weeks ago.
