Union Saint-Gilloise vs Eintracht Frankfurt Preview, Tips & Stats

Lotto Park hosts Union Saint-Gilloise and Eintracht Frankfurt this Thursday in the Europa Conference League Knockout Play-offs. Union could only manage a third place finish in the Europa League and failing to win their group, Frankfurt find themselves in the Play-offs.

Union Saint-Gilloise finished third in Group E in the Europa League. In six games, Union had two wins, two draws and two losses, leaving them on eight points, three points from Toulouse and four points from winners Liverpool.

In their last five games in all competitions, Union Saint-Gilloise have two wins, two draws and one loss.

Gustaf Nilsson and Mohamed Amoura both scored before the 30 minute mark, but Jan Vertonghen got Anderlecht into the game before halftime. However, Thorgan Hazard grabbed a goal in the 92nd minute to grab a 2 - 2 draw for Anderlecht. Nilsson was on the scoresheet again for Union and with a penalty from Cameron Puertas gave Union the 2 - 0 lead at halftime. Another penalty, this time from Amoura gave Union the third, and despite the goals from Carlos Alberto and Mickael Biron, Union held on for the 3 - 2 win.

Amoura was on the scoresheet again with the only goal of the game in the 1 - 0 win for Union over Genk. The first leg of the Belgian Cup Semi-final saw Andreas Skov Olsen give Club Brugge the lead in the tenth minute. Ferran Jutgla Blanch doubled Brugge’s lead just one minute into the second half but Koki Machida’s late goal wasn’t enough to get a result for Union, Club Brugge holding on for a 2 - 1 win.

The last time out for Union was against Westerlo. Thomas Van den Keybus opened the scoring in the sixth minute for Westerlo but a brace from Loic Lapoussin gave Union the 2 - 1 lead. However, a 96th minute penalty from Nicolas Madsen grabbed a 2 - 2 draw for Westerlo.

Eintracht Frankfurt, on the other hand, finished second in Group G in the Conference League. In six games, Frankfurt had three wins and three losses which leaves them on nine points, seven points behind group winners PAOK.

In their last five games in all competitions, Frankfurt have two wins, two draws and one loss.

Ansgar Knauff’s goal in the seventh minute was the only goal of the game to give Frankfurt the 1 - 0 win over RB Leipzig. Knauff was on the scoresheet again for Frankfurt along with Niels Nkounkou, but goals from Julian Justvan and Christoph Klarer grabbed a 2 - 2 draw for Darmstadt.

Frankfurt bounced back against Mainz. Mario Gotze scored the only goal of the game in the 72nd minute to give Frankfurt the 1 - 0 win. However, the next time out against Koln saw Frankfurt end the game with nine men as both Nkounkou and Tuta were sent off in the second half. Both Faride Alidou and Jan Thielmann scored in the 2 - 0 win for Koln.

The most recent outing for Frankfurt was against Bochum. Omar Marmoush opened the scoring for Frankfurt but Moritz Broschinski equalised just three minutes later in the 1 - 1 draw.
