Qarabag will welcome Bayer Leverkusen to the Tofig Bahramov Republican Stadium after a 5-1 battering from the German giants in the last Europa League group stage game with the Bundesliga side continuing to stun Europe with their incredible form.
Leverkusen are sitting top of the Bundesliga, have one foot in the next round of the Europa League and are into the next round of the DFB-Pokal after a 5-2 win over Sandhausen. This saw Jonathan Tah score in the second half alongside three late goals where Amine Adli scored twice in the final four minutes with Adam Hlozek also scoring in the 85th minute. Exequiel Palacios also bagged a penalty in the first half.
Leverkusen remain first and unbeaten in the Bundesliga too and sit above Bayern Munich by two points as a result. This has seen them only draw with the champions Bayern, as they have netted 30 goals and let in only 10 as well.
In the Europa League, Xabi Alonso has also guided his side to three wins from three games, starting off with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Hacken that saw Jonas Hofmann, Victor Boniface, Adli and Florian Wirtz all score a goal each. Molde were up next for Alonso's men, and a 2-1 win saw Jeremie Frimpong score before Nathan Tella added another just four minutes later.
Leverkusen have also already defeated Qarabag where Wirtz scored a magical goal before Alex Grimaldo scored two goals with one coming in either half. Boniface also bagged, as Edmond Tapsoba kept up this magical record of so many different goalscorers scoring for the side. They also had 11 shots on target from 22 efforts that day and made a pass accuracy percentage of 91% from 594 passes.
As for Qarabag, they are second in the Azerbaijan Premier League after a stunning 7-1 win over Kapaz on Saturday. Yassine Benzia scored a first half hat-trick that day, as Leandro Andrade scored a goal in either half alongside finishes from Juninho, Noriman Axundzade. The club are now sitting just one point behind Zira in the league and with three losses from 12 games, while they have scored the most goals in the league with 28 bagged and 11 let in.
