Belgium might have gone unbeaten in the group stage, but their failure to beat Egypt and Iran, along with their performances in those games, suggest that the Red Devils could well struggle against Senegal on Wednesday.
Senegal, on the other hand, lost two of their three group games, but those defeats arrived against two extremely capable opponents in the form of France and Norway. When the Africans came up against lesser opposition like Iraq, they dominated the match from start to finish, scoring five goals without reply.
Belgium scored six goals in their three group games and Senegal scored eight times, so we are expecting both teams to score in this last 32 knockout tie.
Ismaila Sarr shone for Senegal during the group stage, despite his country only just making it through to the knockout round. The Crystal Palace player scored more goals than any of his teammates, netting three times in three appearances and provided one assist.
Sarr enjoyed an excellent campaign with the Eagles, securing silverware and finishing as the club's top goalscorer across all competitions, so it is no surprise to see the 28-year-old carrying on his good form at the World Cup.
Belgium 1-2 Senegal
